How to Use Screen Lock

To improve usability and avoid control conflicts, the Screen Lock method has been updated in Latest Firmware.

Updated over a week ago

When riding in the rain, water droplets may cause accidental screen touches. To help prevent unwanted inputs and keep your navigation stable, RiderNav includes a Screen Lock feature.

If your RiderNav is updated to Latest Firmware, Screen Lock works as follows:

  • Lock the screen: Swipe down anywhere on the screen

  • Unlock the screen: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen

This makes screen locking faster, simpler, and more convenient during riding.

Why This Change Was Made

In the previous version, Screen Lock was triggered by holding the Wonder Wheel direction key for 3 seconds in Android Auto.

While this worked, it could sometimes interfere with:

  • BMW native Wonder Wheel controls

  • Navigation app shortcut operations

To provide a smoother experience, RiderNav moved the Screen Lock function from a button shortcut to screen gestures in V1.5.0.

This new method helps avoid conflicts with your bike’s original controls and keeps the Wonder Wheel focused on navigation and menu operation.

Please note: We currently have no plans to change the Screen Lock method again. The current gesture-based design was introduced to reduce control conflicts and provide a more stable riding experience.
