About the Pre-Applied Screen Film on Your R7M / R7X

When you unbox your new RiderNav display, you will notice a thin protective film already applied to the screen. This article explains what that film is for, whether you should keep it on, and how to better protect your screen for long-term use.

What Is the Pre-Applied Film?

Every R7M and R7X leaves the factory with a temporary protective film on the screen. Its purpose is simple:

To prevent scratches during shipping, handling, and assembly — not for long-term daily use.

This film is not a tempered glass protector. It is a basic plastic layer that protects the display only until the device reaches you.

Should I Remove It?

It is entirely up to you.

  • Keep it on if you want a quick, short-term layer of protection right out of the box.

  • Peel it off if you prefer the clearest possible view, or plan to apply your own screen protector.

Either choice is fine — the device works exactly the same way.

⚠️ Important: Warranty Notice

Please note that the pre-applied film is not covered under our 18-month warranty.

This means:

  • If the film is peeled off, lost, or damaged, we cannot replace it.

  • If the film develops bubbles, scratches, or wear over time, this is normal and not considered a product defect.

The film is provided as a courtesy for transit protection only.

Recommended: RiderNav Tempered Glass Screen Protector

For lasting screen protection — especially against road debris, dust, gloves, and accidental impacts during riding — we strongly recommend our dedicated tempered glass screen protector, designed specifically for the R7M and R7X.

✅ Cut to fit the R7M / R7X display perfectly

✅ Tempered glass — far more scratch- and impact-resistant than the factory film ✅ High clarity — no impact on touch sensitivity or sunlight readability

✅ Easy to apply
