When the Action Camera is powered off, the RiderNav R7M/R7X cannot turn it on again unless the camera has Bluetooth Wake / Remote Wake enabled. If this option is off, the camera’s Bluetooth will shut down completely, and the R7M won’t be able to wake it.
What to Check on Action Camera
On the camera, go to Settings
Find and enable Bluetooth Wake / Bluetooth Wake-up / Remote Wake (wording may vary by firmware)
Re-pair the camera with the RiderNav R7M/R7X if needed
Test again: turn the camera off → try waking it from RiderNav R7M/R7X
Note: If Bluetooth wake is disabled, you’ll need to power on the camera manually before connecting.
If It Still Doesn’t Work
Make sure the camera firmware is up to date
Remove the Bluetooth pairing on both sides and re-pair
Confirm the camera battery is not in a low-power state (some cameras disable wake features when battery is very low)
Issue: GoPro Fails to Reconnect or Power Back On
Occasionally, users may experience issues where the GoPro fails to reconnect or power back on after stopping a recording and powering off. This issue is typically caused by the GoPro's need to finalize files and clear internal processes during shutdown. If the RiderNav sends a wake-up command immediately after the camera powers off, the GoPro may not have completed its shutdown cycle, leading to a failed reconnection or wake-up error.
