RiderNav display does not support using Starlink Mini and wireless CarPlay or wireless Android Auto at the same time through the same smartphone
This is mainly caused by an industry-wide hardware and operating system limitation of smartphones. It is not a defect of the RiderNav display.
Here is the direct reason why:
Wi-Fi Single-Channel Limit: Smartphones only have one Wi-Fi antenna pathway. They cannot connect to two Wi-Fi networks (Starlink and CarPlay) at the same time.
Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto requires WiFi:
Wireless CarPlay and wireless Android Auto use WiFi to transmit high-bandwidth data between your phone and the display, including maps, music, calls, and app projection. When wireless projection is active, your phone’s WiFi connection is used by the display.Starlink Mini also requires WiFi:
Starlink Mini provides internet access by creating its own WiFi network. If your phone connects to Starlink Mini, it will disconnect from the WiFi connection required by wireless CarPlay or wireless Android Auto.
Best Workaround for Riders:
Use a Two-Device Setup:If you need internet access while riding, you may consider using mobile data on your main phone while using wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.
If you must use Starlink Mini, we recommend connecting Starlink Mini to a separate device, such as another phone while keeping your main phone connected to the screen for CarPlay or Android Auto.
