Initial Connection Diagnosis
When Android Auto wireless pairing fails with your RiderNav display, the issue typically originates from smartphone configuration, application conflicts, or connection profiles—not the display hardware itself. This guide walks you through systematic troubleshooting.
Check Your Connection Background
New Setup: Verify you've completed the initial pairing procedure correctly.
Previously Functional: Recent phone updates, new applications, or modified network configurations may have disrupted connectivity.
STEP 1: Update to the Latest Firmware and Use Channel Switching
Before changing your phone settings, make sure your RiderNav is updated to the latest firmware.
The latest firmware improves Wi-Fi stability and supports Channel Switching, which can help reduce wireless disconnections caused by signal interference.
To adjust it, go to: Settings > Features > Switching Channel
Try manually switching between channels such as CH36 and CH149 to find the most stable connection.
STEP 2: Foundational Smartphone Checks
If Step 1 does not resolve the issue, verify your phone's configuration:
Disable Interfering Connections: * Personal Hotspot: Must be OFF (Hotspot blocks the Wi-Fi Direct link to Android Auto).
VPN: Disable any active VPN services.
App Permissions: * Go to Settings > Apps > Android Auto. Ensure all permissions (Location, Nearby Devices, etc.) are granted.
Set Battery usage to "Unrestricted".
Update Google Components: Make sure your Android Auto app, Google Play Services, and Android OS are all updated to the latest stable versions. We also recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the Android Auto app, and using the official stable release instead of a beta version, as beta apps may be less stable.
STEP 3: Fresh Pairing Procedure (The "Clean Slate" Method)
If the connection is still failing, clear the old "handshake" data and start fresh:
Reset RiderNav Display: Go to Settings > Reset and confirm.
Clean Phone Bluetooth: On your phone, "Forget" or Unpair all previous "RiderNav-XXXX" entries.
Restart Phone: This is essential to clear the system's wireless cache.
Reconnect:
On RiderNav: Open Car Link > Android Auto.
On Phone: Enable Bluetooth, find RiderNav-XXXX, and accept the pairing prompts on both devices.
STEP 4: Device Specific Limitations
International Models: Please note that some international variants of Huawei, Vivo, and Oppo may lack full Android Auto support due to missing Google Mobile Services (GMS).
Hardware Test: If possible, try connecting with a different Android phone.
If the second phone works, the issue lies in the first phone’s settings.
If both fail, please contact our support team.
