R7M is a 7-inch quick-release display designed for BMW riders. Because of its larger screen size, the R7M was not originally designed for BMW RT-series motorcycles—the factory cockpit surround can create clearance issues with a direct install.
That said, we’ve confirmed a proven solution that allows many RT riders to install and use the R7M successfully: a third-party extension bracket.
Confirmed Compatible RT Models
With a third-party extension bracket, customers have successfully installed the R7M on:
2014–2016 BMW R1200RT
2020+ BMW R1250RT (example: 2020 model year)
Note that BMW R1200RT/R1250RT motorcycles do not support Wonder Wheel control with the R7M.
Why You Need an Extension Bracket
On RT models, a direct install may cause the 7-inch display to interfere with the cowling surround. A third-party extension bracket provides the necessary offset so the display can sit correctly.
An extension bracket typically:
Adds clearance between the display and the cowling
Helps achieve a proper viewing angle and position
Improves mounting stability for daily riding
✅ Confirmed by RiderNav Customers
Multiple RiderNav customers have successfully installed the R7M on R1200RT and R1250RT using third-party extension brackets, with excellent real-world results (see customer reviews on Trustpilot).
Buying & Installation Notes (Must Read)
The extension bracket is not included with the R7M. RiderNav does not manufacture or sell RT extension brackets—you will need to purchase one separately and complete the installation yourself.
When purchasing, make sure the bracket is:
Designed for BMW’s navigation mount / cradle system
Compatible with your exact RT model year (fit and clearance can vary)
What Works After Installation
After the correct bracket is installed, the R7M can be used normally, including:
Power-on through the BMW navigation cradle
Standard display operation and core RiderNav functions
Important limitation: RT-series motorcycles do not support Wonder Wheel control with the R7M.
