The R7M is a 7-inch display made for BMW motorcycles equipped with a BMW navigation cradle. If your bike has BMW Nav Prep 5/6 or the new keyless electric navigation cradle, the R7M can be powered and used normally—provided the cradle is genuine and correctly powered.
1) Cradle Power Compatibility (Required)
R7M does not have a built-in battery. It must be powered by your BMW navigation cradle.
Supported cradles
BMW Nav Prep 5 or 6 (key-lock, no front buttons)
BMW keyless electric navigation cradle (commonly found on newer BMW models)
Not supported
Cradles with physical buttons on the front (button-style navigation cradles)
For best results, confirm the cradle is genuine BMW, receives power normally, and has clean, undamaged pins/contacts.

R1200 RT, R1250 & RT K1600 Note (Important)
RT Series Installation Solution: Due to the 7-inch display size, the R7M was not originally designed for the BMW RT series. However, we’ve discovered a proven solution that allows RT-series riders to successfully install and use the R7M display.
BMW K1600 series are incompatible with R7M.
2) Wonder Wheel Control (Varies by Bike)
R7M can support BMW Wonder Wheel control, allowing you to operate the R7M using the OEM multi-controller. However, we cannot guarantee this feature will work on every BMW.
That’s because Wonder Wheel control requires reading BMW’s protocol and depends on your motorcycle’s model, year, options, and how BMW exposes the control signal. If the bike doesn’t output it—or BMW limits access—R7M cannot force it on.
To have a chance of enabling Wonder Wheel control, you typically need:
A genuine BMW Navigation Cradle with clean, intact contacts
Preparation for Navigation Unit (SA 272) activated
A BMW model/configuration that supports Wonder Wheel output via BMW’s protocol
Known limitation: R1200 RT and R1250 RT do not support Wonder Wheel with R7M.
3) BMW Ride Data on R7M (Varies by Model/Year)
R7M can display OEM vehicle data only when your BMW supports it and provides it through BMW’s protocol. We cannot guarantee vehicle data will display on every motorcycle.
Prerequisite: To display vehicle data, your BMW must have “On-board computer Pro (Option 221)”.
Even with Option 221, individual data items may vary. For example, lean angle requires a compatible BMW lean-angle sensor and that BMW’s protocol exposes the value to the cradle. If your bike doesn’t have the sensor—or BMW doesn’t transmit it—R7M cannot display it.
As a general reference, many BMW models produced before 2017 may not output usable vehicle data to the cradle.
If You’re Unsure About Your Setup
If needed, share your BMW model + year + cradle type (photo helps) and we can help you confirm compatibility.
