If your BMW vehicle data isn’t showing on the RiderNav R7M, start with the simplest fix: clean the BMW cradle contacts. Poor contact is one of the most common reasons data fails to pass through the cradle—even when the bike supports it.
Why BMW Data May Not Display
As a general reference, many BMW models produced before 2017 may not output usable vehicle data to the cradle.
1) Hardware limitations (sensor availability)
R7M can only display data that your motorcycle actually generates.
For instance, the ability to display data such as lean angle, Range, tire pressure, fuel economy,, ambient temperature, and engine temperature depends on the model year and the data output from the motorcycle's ECU.
If the bike does not have that sensor, the value cannot be transmitted to the R7M.
2) Software & protocol limitations (BMW communication rules)
Even if your bike has the required sensor, some data may still not appear on R7M due to BMW’s proprietary communication protocol.
In some cases, BMW may limit which data packets are broadcast through the navigation cradle interface.
These are manufacturer-level restrictions, and RiderNav cannot modify BMW’s internal protocol.
We may support a data type in general, but that does not mean it will appear on every BMW model/year.
Some fields (for example TPMS, lean angle, or fuel range) can vary widely depending on model, year, and options.
Required BMW Options (Prerequisites)
To display BMW vehicle data on R7M, your motorcycle must have:
On-board computer Pro (Option 221) (required for vehicle data)
Preparation for Navigation Unit (SA 272) (often required for BMW navigation/cradle integration and Wonder Wheel eligibility)
Because these are BMW options, please contact your BMW dealer to confirm whether your motorcycle has Option 221 and SA 272 activated.
The ConnectedRide Cradle can also be used on older BMW Motorrad models (e.g. BMW R 1200 GS K50) and fits all BMW Motorrad models equipped with the optional equipment "Preparation for navigation system (option 272)" - as well as models equipped with Multi-Controller and the option of retrofitting the navigation preparation via the BMW Motorrad workshop system (except R 1200 RT, R 1250 RT, K 1600 models). On older motorcycles without a TFT instrument cluster, operation is possible via the control element of the "Preparation for navigation unit SA 272". The prerequisite for displaying vehicle data is "On-board computer Pro (option 221)".
If You Need Help
If you share your BMW model, year, and cradle type, plus a short video showing the data page on your R7M, we can help you check whether the issue is most likely bike configuration, cradle output, or contact/pin condition.
