Some users may notice that after installing RiderNav R7M on a BMW motorcycle, certain vehicle information is not displayed on the BMW Data page.
For example, the RiderNav display may show some information such as remaining distance, but data such as RPM, speed, lean angle, tire pressure, or other vehicle parameters may be missing.
This does not necessarily indicate a problem with the RiderNav display.
How BMW Data Reading Works
R7M does not generate BMW motorcycle data by itself.
When installed through the original BMW navigation cradle, the R7M reads the information that the motorcycle provides through the BMW navigation interface (Nav Prep system).
The available data depends on:
Motorcycle model and production year
BMW Nav Prep / navigation cradle system
Vehicle ECU configuration
Installed sensors and available vehicle information
If the BMW system does not transmit certain parameters through the navigation interface, the RiderNav display cannot retrieve or display that information.
Why Is Some Data Missing?
BMW motorcycles from different generations provide different levels of vehicle data through the navigation interface.
On some earlier BMW models, especially certain motorcycles produced before around 2017, the navigation interface may only provide limited information.
In these cases, some data such as:
RPM
Lean angle
Tire pressure
Engine-related information
Additional vehicle parameters
may not be available, even though the RiderNav display is correctly connected.
For example, if the RiderNav display can show remaining distance or other basic information, this confirms that the BMW navigation interface is communicating, but the motorcycle may not be providing additional data.
What Should I Check?
If BMW data is missing, please check the following:
Make sure the RiderNav R7M is installed correctly in the original BMW navigation cradle.
Confirm that the RiderNav firmware is updated to the latest version.
Open the BMW Data page and check whether any information is displayed.
If possible, provide:
Motorcycle model and production year
BMW Nav Prep version (if known)
A photo or screenshot of the BMW Data page
A photo showing the RiderNav installation in the BMW cradle
This information helps us determine whether the issue is related to connection, configuration, or BMW data availability.
Important Note
RiderNav can only display the data provided by the BMW motorcycle through the original navigation interface.
If certain vehicle information is not transmitted by the motorcycle system, this limitation cannot be changed through RiderNav firmware updates.
For comparison, testing the same RiderNav R7M on a newer compatible BMW model may show additional available vehicle information.
