When RiderNav R7M is connected to a BMW motorcycle through the BMW Navigation Preparation (Nav Prep) cradle, you may notice that the displayed speed changes only in 2 km/h increments, such as:
40 km/h → 42 km/h → 44 km/h
This behavior is related to the BMW Nav Prep data format, not a limitation of the RiderNav R7M display.
Why Does the Speed Change by 2 km/h?
When connected through the BMW Nav Prep cradle, the R7M receives vehicle information directly from the BMW system.
The speed data provided by the BMW interface is transmitted in 2 km/h increments. Therefore, the R7M displays the speed values according to the data received from the motorcycle.
For example:
BMW system provides:
40 km/h
42 km/h
44 km/h
R7M displays:
40 km/h
42 km/h
44 km/h
The intermediate values (such as 41 km/h or 43 km/h) are not transmitted through the BMW Nav Prep interface.
Please kindly note that this display behavior does not indicate a fault with the R7M display.
The R7M displays the vehicle speed information provided by the BMW system through the Nav Prep cradle. Since this data format is defined by BMW, this display characteristic cannot be changed through a RiderNav firmware update.
