The RiderNav Display (R7M/R7X) supports OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware updates, so you can get new features, improvements, and bug fixes. You can use the device normally without an SD card for daily navigation and all core functions—an SD card is only required for system updates, and you’ll need to purchase and install one separately.
Installing Your Own SD Card
Step 1: Open the SD Card Slot
Use the screwdriver included in your RiderNav Display
Locate the SD card slot cover on the side of the device
Carefully unscrew the cover
Step 2: Insert the SD Card
Purchase a compatible SD card (see recommendations below)
Insert the SD card into the slot
Replace and secure the cover
Waterproofing Note After Installation
After inserting the SD card, make sure the screws and waterproof gasket are fully tightened and seated properly. If the gasket is not sealed correctly, water may enter the display—this is not covered under warranty.
SD Card Requirement
The RiderNav Display does not include an SD card in the box.
We recommend using a 32GB SD card for OTA updates.
If you use an 8GB or 128GB card and OTA updates fail, we recommend switching to a 32GB card.
What the SD Card Is Not For
The SD card cannot be used for:
Custom wallpapers / background customization (RiderNav Display does not support background customization)
Video playback on the RiderNav Display
Music playback on the RiderNav Display
Storing personal files for use on the display
