R7M attaches to—and is powered by—your BMW cradle the same way a BMW Navigator would be.
BMW often calls this bike-side base “Navigation preparation” (Nav Prep). It’s the factory mount that provides power (and, on supported bikes, data/control) through the pogo-pin connector.
Below are the supported BMW navigation cradles for R7M.
1) BMW Nav Prep 5/6 (key-lock, no front buttons)
Also known as the OEM BMW Navigator mount for Navigator V/VI.
This is the original “navigation preparation” base that powers compatible devices via the pogo-pin connector. For R7M, you want the version with a simple, button-free bezel.
2) BMW Keyless Electric Mount (motor-driven latch)
This is BMW’s newer electric/keyless navigation mount used on many 2024–2026+ models (BMW part no. 65 90 5 B6C 8C0). It locks/unlocks electronically instead of using a mechanical key.
R7M fits this mount interface and can be powered normally through it.
Quick FAQ
Q: My mount has front buttons, but I won’t use them—will R7M work?
A: No. Buttoned Navigator cradles are a different hardware family and are not supported by R7M.
Q: Is the “ConnectedRide Cradle” the same thing?
A: Not exactly. BMW’s ConnectedRide Cradle is a phone holder that also clips onto BMW’s navigation preparation base. We mention it only to explain BMW’s naming. R7M uses the same “navigation preparation” base, but it is not a phone holder.
