Improve Phone Mirroring Stability with Wi-Fi Channel Switching

Updated this week

If your phone connection is unstable, disconnects frequently, or fails to connect while using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HiCar, or CarLink, changing the Wi-Fi channel on your RiderNav display may help improve stability. Wi-Fi interference can vary depending on your phone model, region, and surrounding environment, so the most stable channel may differ from one user to another.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Ensure Your Firmware is Updated

This feature is available in Firmware Version 1.4.4 or later. Please check your version in Settings > System Setup > Update.

2. Change the Wi-Fi Channel

On your RiderNav display, navigate to: Settings โ†’ Features โ†’ Switching Channel

Select and Test Channels

You will see a list of available channels (e.g., CH36, CH149, CH153, CH157, CH161).

How to Test for a More Stable Connection

Select a different channel, then reconnect your phone and test the connection again. If the issue continues, switch to another channel and repeat the test until you find the most stable option for your setup. There is no single best channel for every user.

Additional Troubleshooting Tips

If your connection is already stable, there is no need to change the channel.

Before testing different channels, it may also help to restart both your RiderNav and your phone. In some environments, especially areas with heavy wireless interference, lower channels like CH36 and higher channels such as CH149+ may perform differently. Make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your phone, and check that no VPN or hotspot-related settings are interfering with the connection.
