RiderNav Touchscreen Glove Compatibility

RiderNav uses a high-brightness IPS capacitive touchscreen, similar to the technology used in modern smartphones.

Because capacitive touchscreens rely on electrical conductivity to detect touch input, the material of your gloves can directly affect how well the screen responds. If the gloves are not touchscreen compatible, the screen may respond slowly, inaccurately, or may not respond at all.

Recommended Gloves

  • Gloves with conductive touchscreen pads on the fingertips

  • Motorcycle gloves designed for use with smartphones or GPS displays

  • Synthetic leather or rubber gloves with integrated touch-sensitive fingertips

Not Recommended Gloves

  • Pure Fabric/Textiles: Heavy cotton, wool, or standard textile gloves without conductive fingertips.

  • Thick, Non-Treated Leather: Traditional heavy leather gloves that completely block electrical conductivity.

What should I check first?

Before assuming there is a problem with the device, please check the following:

  • Make sure your gloves are specifically labeled as touchscreen compatible.

  • Test with another pair of gloves that have conductive fingertip pads.

  • Test with bare hands: Temporarily remove your glove and test the screen. If it works perfectly with your bare fingers, the issue is likely due to the glove material or a lack of firm contact with the screen.

  • For RiderNav R7M users, you may also use BMW Wonder Wheel control for many supported actions, which can reduce the need to touch the screen while riding. However, some apps or functions may still require touchscreen input.

If you have already tested RiderNav with touchscreen-compatible gloves and still feel the touch experience does not meet your needs, please contact our support team.
