Does the Q5 Pro Come with a Protective Cover or Guard?
Short Answer
No — we do not currently offer a dedicated protective cover, wire mesh guard, or lens shield accessory for the Q5 Pro.
The Q5 Pro is engineered to perform in demanding motorcycle environments without a supplemental guard. Its lens uses high-durability, weather-resistant glass built to handle the everyday realities of adventure and touring riding.
What the Q5 Pro Lens Is Built to Handle
Under normal riding conditions, the Q5 Pro lens is designed to reliably withstand:
🌧️ Rain and harsh weather — IP68-rated waterproof sealing, unaffected by heavy downpours, high-pressure spray, or extended wet-weather riding
🛣️ Long-distance touring — thousands of kilometers of continuous use without performance degradation
📳 Road vibration — sustained vibration exposure across all standard motorcycle riding scenarios
🧱 Normal road debris exposure — the kind of small pebbles, dust, insects, and light impacts you encounter on regular paved roads
The lens material is specifically selected for motorcycle use — meaning it prioritizes impact resistance, thermal stability, and optical clarity across the range of temperatures a spotlight experiences during real-world riding.
When Additional Care Might Make Sense
While the Q5 Pro's lens is designed for normal riding, riders who spend significant time in the following environments may want to take extra precautions:
Serious off-road terrain — deep gravel, rocky trails, or areas with frequent flying debris from tires
Extreme conditions — dust storms, extended exposure to sand blast, or ice-encrusted riding
High-speed pack riding on unpaved roads — where debris kicked up from other bikes has higher energy
In these situations, we recommend:
Regular lens inspection after each ride
Routine cleaning to remove abrasive dust or grit
Being aware of your spotlight's position relative to potential debris paths
Why We Don't Offer a Dedicated Guard (Currently)
We've evaluated adding a lens guard accessory, and our design perspective is straightforward: the Q5 Pro's lens is engineered to be the durable outer surface, not a fragile component that needs protection.
Adding a guard in front of the lens introduces trade-offs — reduced light output, altered beam pattern, additional weight, and one more component that can trap moisture, dust, or debris against the lens itself. For the vast majority of riders, the lens as-designed is the better solution.
That said, we continuously listen to rider feedback. If you ride in conditions where you feel a guard would meaningfully improve your setup, we'd like to hear from you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install a third-party lens guard from another brand?
Physically possible in some cases, but we cannot verify compatibility, warranty implications, or optical impact of third-party accessories. If you're considering one, please check with our support team first.
Can I apply a clear protective film (like a phone screen protector)?
We do not recommend applying films to the lens. Any adhesive residue or film distortion can affect optical output, and heat from the LED could cause films to warp or degrade over time.
Are you planning to release a protective guard in the future?
We're always evaluating new accessories based on rider demand. If enough riders in extreme-use categories request a guard, it's something we would seriously consider. Let us know if this matters to you.
