Powering the R7M (No Battery, No Extra Wiring)

R7M does not include a built-in battery. It is powered directly through your BMW navigation cradle.

No Additional Wiring Required

One of the biggest advantages of the R7M is its clean, OEM-style integration. Because it draws power from the BMW Navigation Cradle, there’s no need for additional wiring, splicing, or electrical modifications.

How it works

Your BMW’s factory navigation mount is already connected to the bike’s electrical system. When you install the R7M into the cradle, it uses that existing power connection:

  • Plug-and-play installation — no electrical work required

  • Clean setup — no exposed wires or extra cables

  • OEM integration — uses BMW’s original power connection

  • Secure mounting — locks using your BMW key (theft deterrent)

Installation

  1. Insert the R7M into your BMW Navigation Cradle

  2. Lock it securely using your BMW key

  3. Ride — the display powers on automatically with the ignition

Power Management

R7M receives power when your motorcycle is running and shuts down when the ignition is turned off—similar to how the original BMW Navigator operates.

Optional Test Power Method (USB-C)

There is a USB-C port on the back of the unit that can be used for bench testing.

  • Remove the screws, then power the unit using a 5V 2A USB-C to USB-A cable

  • After testing, fully tighten the screws and waterproof gasket

Important: If the screws or gasket are not tightened correctly, water may enter the display. Water damage caused by improper reassembly is not covered under warranty.
A USB cable is not included.

Compatibility Note

This power method works on BMW motorcycles equipped with a supported BMW Navigation Cradle (factory navigation mount). If your bike has the correct cradle and it is properly powered, the R7M will power on normally.
