Troubleshooting OTA Update Failures & Black Screen Issues

A 2-minute recovery process to fix OTA update issues and screen blackouts. Includes download links and SD card preparation steps.

Updated over a week ago

If your RiderNav R7M encountered an error during an OTA (Over-the-Air) update or the screen remains black/unresponsive, please follow this manual recovery guide. We have developed a Repair Firmware specifically designed to restore and stabilize your device.

Preparation Requirements:

  • SD Card: A micro SD card with 8GB to 32GB capacity.

  • Format: Ensure the SD card is formatted to FAT32 before starting.

  • Power Source: A stable power supply (either via the BMW motorcycle cradle or a USB cable).

Step-by-Step Recovery Process:

  1. Download Firmware: Click the link below to download the recovery package.

  2. Transfer Files: Copy the four (4) update files directly onto the root directory of your formatted SD card (do not place them inside a folder).

  3. Insert SD Card: Insert the SD card into the slot on the right side of your R7M device.

  4. Power On: Connect the device to power (Mount it on the cradle or plug in the USB).

  5. The 2-Minute Rule: Keep the device powered on for approximately 2 minutes.

    • CRITICAL: Do not disconnect the power or turn off the ignition during this time.

  6. Automatic Reboot: The device will automatically recognize the files, trigger a boot-up, and complete the firmware update.

  7. Post-Update Action (IMPORTANT): Once the update is complete and the device has successfully entered the system, please format the SD card within the system settings OR power off the device and remove the SD card.

    • This prevents the device from re-detecting the firmware files and entering an infinite update loop.

Important Note & Warranty Assurance:

Since it can be difficult to replicate exact individual scenarios in our lab, we kindly ask you to inform us of the result after attempting these steps.

Our Commitment to You: If the manual update does not resolve the issue, please do not worry. We stand behind our product and will fulfill our Warranty Service, providing you with a replacement or a full return/refund. Your satisfaction and a working device are our top priorities.
