Understanding the Accessory (ACC) Wire
For optimal R7X operation, your navigation unit should be wired to your motorcycle's accessory power circuit rather than drawing directly from the battery. The ACC wire is the switched power source that activates only when your ignition is turned on.
Why This Matters for R7X:
Connecting the R7X to the ACC circuit ensures that:
-The unit automatically powers down when you turn off the ignition
-No power is consumed when your bike is parked, protecting your battery
-Your R7X starts and stops with your riding sessions
-You maintain a clean, integrated electrical setup
Locating Your Bike's ACC Wire
Step 1: Locate your motorcycle's fuse box (typically under the seat or near the handlebars)
Step 2: Use a multimeter to identify the ACC wire:
Set the multimeter to DC voltage mode
Connect the black probe to a clean ground (battery negative or frame)
Probe each wire with the red probe
The ACC wire is the one that shows voltage only when the ignition is on, and no voltage when the ignition is off
Step 3: Once identified, this is the wire you'll connect your R7X power cable to for proper installation
Best Practice:
Always consult your motorcycle's service manual for the specific location of the ACC wire in your model, or visit a professional installer if you're unsure about electrical connections.
