Can I Change or Disable the Turn Signal Flash Color?
Short Answer
The current Q5 Pro system does not offer settings to change the turn signal flash color or to disable the turn signal sync function. When your motorcycle's turn signal activates, the corresponding spotlight will flash in the standard Q5 Pro white output.
If your local regulations require amber turn signal indication, or if you prefer amber flashing for personal or visibility reasons, we recommend the Q5 Pro Amber/Yellow Lens Cover — a purpose-designed accessory that converts your spotlight's visible output color while retaining the same beam pattern and function.
Why the Turn Signal Sync Exists
Turn signal synchronization is one of the Q5 Pro system's core safety features. When you activate your turn signal, the corresponding side spotlight flashes in sync — giving drivers and riders around you a much larger, brighter, more visible indication of your intent to change direction.
This is especially valuable in:
Heavy traffic where standard turn signals get lost in surrounding light
Nighttime riding where auxiliary light visibility significantly outperforms stock indicators
Group riding where clear directional signaling helps everyone stay coordinated
The sync happens automatically through the CAN bus (RLC CAN-X) or via the connected controller signal (RLC3). It's an always-on feature by design.
Regional Considerations — Amber vs. White Flashing
Turn signal color regulations vary significantly by country and region. Some jurisdictions — including parts of Europe, the UK, Australia, and certain Asian markets — specify that turn signal indicators must be amber (yellow) to meet legal requirements.
If you ride in a region with amber-only turn signal regulations, using the Q5 Pro's stock white sync flash for turn indication may not comply with local laws.
We strongly recommend checking your local motorcycle lighting regulations before configuring your setup.
The Amber/Yellow Lens Cover Solution
For riders in amber-required regions, or for anyone who simply prefers amber output, we offer the Q5 Pro Amber/Yellow Lens Cover.
The lens cover:
Snaps over the front of your Q5 Pro spotlight, converting visible output to amber
Retains the original beam pattern (hybrid, spot, flood)
Can be added or removed without tools in seconds
Is designed for the same weather resistance as the spotlight itself
Is compatible with both the RLC3 and RLC CAN-X controllers
You can install the lens cover permanently for full-time amber output, or remove it when riding in regions or conditions where white output is preferred.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just disconnect the turn signal sync wire?
For the RLC3, disconnecting the wire that enables turn sync could disable it — but this is not officially supported and may affect other functions. Contact support before modifying any wiring.
For the RLC CAN-X, turn signal sync is handled through the CAN bus and cannot be disconnected without disrupting other integrated features. The Amber Lens Cover is the recommended path.
Does the Amber Lens Cover reduce brightness?
There is a modest reduction in visible lumen output compared to the uncovered white output — this is inherent to any colored filter. In practice, the amber output remains bright and highly visible for turn signal use.
Can I use the Amber Lens Cover only on the front-facing surface, not the whole lens?
The lens cover is designed to cover the full lens for uniform color conversion. Partial coverings are not currently offered.
Will using the Amber Lens Cover void my warranty?
No. The lens cover is an official RiderNav accessory and its use is fully compatible with your Q5 Pro warranty.
Do you offer other lens colors — red, blue, or clear?
Currently, only the Amber/Yellow lens cover is available. We periodically evaluate other color options based on rider demand.
