Android Auto Connection Keeps Spinning / Unable to Connect

Fix Android Auto spinning/connection failure by switching to 5GHz in casting settings

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Android Auto fails to connect to the RiderNav Display, showing a continuous spinning wheel, even though Bluetooth pairing is successful and Wi-Fi is enabled.

Symptoms:

  • Bluetooth connection to RiderNav is established successfully

  • Android Auto connection attempt shows spinning wheel indefinitely

  • Wi-Fi is turned on but connection cannot be completed

  • Device may only connect when set to 2.4GHz in Bluetooth settings

Solution:

Switch to 5GHz Wi-Fi Connection

  1. On the RiderNav Display, open the Screen Mirroring/Casting page

  2. Tap the Settings icon (gear icon)

  3. Locate the Wi-Fi Frequency or Network Band setting

  4. Switch from 2.4GHz to 5GHz

  5. Exit settings and retry the Android Auto connection

Why This Works: Android Auto performs best with 5GHz Wi-Fi connections due to higher bandwidth and faster data transfer speeds. While 2.4GHz may work for Bluetooth pairing, Android Auto's screen mirroring and data streaming require the more robust 5GHz connection.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure your phone supports 5GHz Wi-Fi

  • Keep both RiderNav firmware and your phone's Android Auto app updated

  • If issues persist, try forgetting the Bluetooth connection on your phone and re-pairing from scratch
