Activation Failed While Connected to Wi-Fi

Updated this week

If your R7M or R7X connects to Wi-Fi but shows an activation failed message during setup, the issue is usually related to the network environment, not the device itself.

What happens

Your device may connect to Wi-Fi successfully, but the activation request can still fail if the network blocks or interferes with the connection to the activation server.

Common causes

This usually happens when:

  • The Wi-Fi network is restricted

  • The network has firewall or DNS limitations

  • You are using a public, office, hotel, or enterprise Wi-Fi network

  • A VPN is enabled on your phone or router

How to fix it

Please try the following steps:

1. Switch to another Wi-Fi network

Connect your R7M or R7X to a different Wi-Fi network, then try activation again.

2. Use your phone’s hotspot

A mobile hotspot is often the best way to avoid local Wi-Fi restrictions.
Turn on your phone’s hotspot, connect the device to it, and try activating again.

3. Turn off VPN

If a VPN is enabled on your phone, router, or current network, please disable it first and then retry activation.
