When using Android Auto on your RiderNav display, the Day/Night mode of the map is controlled by your Android phone, Android Auto, and navigation app settings. It is not controlled by the RiderNav display.
RiderNav Auto Brightness vs. Android Auto Day/Night Mode
These two functions work independently:
RiderNav Auto Brightness
Automatically adjusts the screen brightness according to the surrounding light conditions.
For example, the screen becomes brighter in direct sunlight and dims in darker environments.
This function only adjusts the display brightness and does not change the Android Auto map theme.
Android Auto Day/Night Mode
Controls the map appearance, such as Light mode or Dark mode.
The switching behavior depends on your Android phone, Android Auto settings, and navigation app settings.
How to Adjust Android Auto Day/Night Mode
Please check the settings on your Android phone:
Android Auto → Settings → Theme
You can select:
Day
Night
Automatic
If Automatic is selected, Android Auto will follow your phone's system theme settings.
You can also check:
Phone Settings → Display → Dark Mode / Theme
Why Does Android Auto Always Stay in Night Mode?
If the map remains in Night mode, please check:
Make sure Android Auto Theme is not set to Night.
Check whether your phone is always using Dark Mode.
Check the appearance settings in your navigation app (such as Google Maps).
